A Compact, Edible Beauty in Peach and Dusty Lavender.

The Ladybird Rose is a mounding, smaller-statured nasturtium with an unexpectedly sophisticated color palette: blooms in delicious shades of warm peach and dusty lavender-rose, held above classic lily-pad leaves. Perfectly at home at the front of a border, spilling from a terracotta pot, or tucked into a kitchen garden bed where its edible flowers and leaves are always within reach.

HISTORY & HERITAGE: Nasturtiums (Tropaeolum majus) arrived in Europe from Peru in the late 16th century and were immediately embraced by kitchen gardeners for their bold flavor and fully edible nature. Compact mounding forms like Ladybird Rose were developed for smaller garden spaces and container growing, making the flavor and beauty of nasturtiums accessible even on a balcony or patio.

CULINARY TIPS: Flowers, leaves, and seeds are all edible and peppery-bright. The blooms are stunning in salads and on cheese boards. The green seeds pickled in white wine vinegar make a superior caper substitute — briny, peppery, and beautiful. Add to pasta, fish dishes, or anywhere you'd use capers.

GROWING GUIDE: Direct sow after last frost in full sun to part shade, 1" deep, 8–10" apart. Prefers lean soil — avoid heavy fertilizing. This compact, mounding variety is excellent in containers. Deadhead to prolong blooming. Days to maturity: 55–65 days.

✦ LIMITED RELEASE — Available exclusively in our signature cello packets, each featuring a mailable postcard with original botanical artwork. Beautiful enough to frame, delicious enough to eat.
