Antiquity Cosmos — Organic
We grow a lot of cosmos, and Antiquity is the one we can't stop talking about. The blooms open in warm, blushing rose and deepen as they age to rich, dusty burgundy — creating a living ombre of antique tones on airy, feathery foliage. Especially beautiful in terracotta pots, but welcome anywhere and everywhere. Few annual flowers offer this kind of effortless, sophisticated color.
HISTORY & HERITAGE: Cosmos (Cosmos bipinnatus) are native to Mexico and Central America, cultivated by the Aztecs in ornamental gardens before the Spanish brought them to Europe in the 17th century. The name comes from the Greek for "ordered universe" — a reference to the regular arrangement of the petals. Antiquity was developed for its distinctive aging color shift, giving it an old-world, romantic quality unlike standard cosmos.
GROWING GUIDE: Direct sow after last frost in full sun, barely pressing seeds into the soil surface — they need light to germinate. Thin to 12-18" apart. Cosmos prefer lean to moderately fertile soil and need minimal watering once established. Deadhead regularly for continuous bloom, or let some go to seed for self-sowing. Excellent as a cut flower — harvest when buds are just opening. Days to first bloom: 60-75 days.
LIMITED RELEASE — Available exclusively in our signature cello packets, each featuring a mailable postcard with original botanical artwork.
