Windowsill Shoot Seeds in Bag: Chickpea

Chickpea microgreen shoots are easy to grow and have beautiful, ferny foliage. The flavor is mild and sweet and some people can detect a unique citrus tang. Due to their mild flavor they are a favorite for adding beauty and texture to all sorts of things. Try them atop a smashed chickpea tartine or in egg dishes.

HOW TO GROW:

Plant indoors in potting soil in anything from shallow takeout containers to old teacups. They won't require much room for root growth since you harvest them so early. Drainage holes reduce the risk of overwatering but aren’t necessary. Plant densely but not overlapping, cover seeds with a layer of soil, and keep moist but not sodden. Place on a bright windowsill and check daily for water. Harvest by cutting with kitchen shears or a knife when plants reach 3-6 inches according to your preference. Keep watered for another harvest or two!
